Ya está en Netflix la cuarta y última temporada de Sex Education, la serie protagonizada por Asa Butterfield (Otis Milburn), Gillian Anderson (Jean Milburn) y Emma Mackey (Maeve Wiley), que trata el sexo y las relaciones humanas de una manera didáctica y desenfadada.

La banda sonora de la temporada 4 de Sex Education vuelve a incluir temas originales de Ezra Furman y un grandísimo número de canciones de otros artistas muy variados, como Nina Simone, Diana Ross, The Mamas and The Papas, The Velvet Underground, U2, Sonic Youth o Spice Girls. Díficil encontrar un hilo común, más allá de que en muchos casos se trata de temas clásicos de pop y rock bien conocidos.

Sobre los temas que suenan en esta temporada, destacamos una escena del capítulo 3 donde suenan varias canciones en la discoteca, con “Love Vibration” de ESSEL, “Cleo” de Shygirl o “Strut” de Elohim & Big Freedia. Escuchamos esta última:
Tema de 2021 muy disco y movido del rapero y actor Big Freddia junto a la artista Elohim, especialista en temas de electrónica como este.
Del quinto episodio destacamos su final, donde suena el tema “Sittin’ Pretty” de The Datsuns:
Se trata del tema que abre el primer álbum de The Datsuns, de 2002. Se trata de un grupo de hard rock neozelandés que sigue en activo, habiendo sacado su último disco, Deep Sleep, hace ya unos años, en 2014.
Terminamos con la canción final de temporada, que suena al final del capítulo 8, “Let It Be” de Aretha Franklin:
Aretha hizo esta versión del famoso tema de The Beatles incluso antes de que éstos lo lanzaran oficialmente, como parte de su disco This Girl’s in Love with You en 1970, incluyendo también otra versión suya de “Eleanor Rigby”.
Canciones de Sex Education 1, 2 y 3
Habrás notado que suenan muchas canciones de un mismo artista: Ezra Furman. Varias de sus composiciones sirven como banda sonora original, pero los creadores de la serie también licencian canciones de estilos muy dispares (desde los años 60 u 80, pasando por pop, electrónica, etc.).

Sex Education 4: estreno, reparto y más detalles
La fecha de estreno de Sex Education 4 es el 21 de septiembre de 2023. Llegará con algunos cambios en el reparto, pues en esta cuarta temporada no veremos a Patricia Allison (Ola), Simone Ashley (Olivia), Tanya Reynolds (Lily) ni a Rakhee Thakrar (Emily).
En su lugar, se incorporarán Jodi Turner-Smith y Dan Levy. Este último hará de tutor de Maeve. En el caso de Jodi solo sabemos que ha grabado sus escenas junto a Ncuti Gatwa (Eric).
Otras nuevas incorporaciones a la temporada 4 serán Thaddea Graham, Marie Reuther, Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James e Imani Yahshua.
Está confirmado que será la cuarta y última temporada de la exitosa serie de Netflix.
